We bet Lynn Robinson would think so. Her book, Divine Intuition, is all about destiny. And intuition. And using yours to find true happiness. Just how do us girlfriends go about doing that? We went straight to the source, and asked Lynn to be our virtual guest this week.
gfb: Lynn, can you tell us a little bit about yourself, and what inspired you to write Divine Intuition and then, Compass Of The Soul?Lynn: I have a passion about intuition! I called my latest book Compass Of The Soul because I believe intuition is truly our inner compass. It is an invisible intelligence that animates our world and provides wisdom to guide our lives. When we follow its wisdom it invariably leads us to success, happiness, peace and joy.
gfb: Can you tell us girlfriends, what can your books do for us?
Lynn: Both books are filled with practical, down-to-earth wisdom about how to use intuition to make good decisions that enable you to create a life you love. Compass Of The Soul contains 52 inspiring chapters, each with a motivational quote, an intuition exercise, and thought-provoking questions for an intuition journal. A sample of the chapters include, "Achieve True Abundance," "Small Steps to Big Dreams," "A Simple Plan for Your Success," "The Purpose of Your Life," and "Cultivate a Positive Attitude." The Divine Intuition book is absolutely gorgeous (if I do say so myself!) It's published by DK books. They're known for their beautiful, full-color gift books.
gfb: Your books encourage us to trust and listen to our intuition. Does this come more naturally to some people than others? Is it true you can develop it?
Lynn: Fortunately, we all have the ability to tap into this power. We are all capable of developing it for practical use in everyday life as well as for discovering and achieving life goals. Many people think of it as the domain of a gifted few, even though intuition is now recognized not as a rare, accidental talent, but as a natural skill that most of us can cultivate. Living an intuitive life is much more than simply paying attention to your intuition. It includes looking within for the answers; living life with courage, faith, patience and trust. It also involves connecting with your Spirit through daily practice and taking action on the wisdom you receive.
gfb: We'd love to hear some inspirational stories of people you have worked with. How has developing their intuition changed their lives?
Lynn: I believe that one of the ways intuition speaks to us is through enthusiasm. The word comes from the Greek root, entheos, which means "guidance within." If you feel energized by a course of action, it's your guidance within, your intuition, telling you to pursue it. I've had so many clients over the years who paid attention to what they were passionate about and pursued their interests. They've created successful careers as wide ranging as image consultants, healers, artists, writers and environmental consultants. By trusting my own intuition, I've been self-employed for the past twenty years as an intuitive counselor, writer and speaker. I figure if I can make a living at this, anyone can make a living at anything!
gfb: Compass Of The Soul is really a guide of small steps people can make to change their lives. In it you talk about the importance of enthusiasm. We are all so busy. How do we find the time to take these small steps, and to stay enthusiastic about it?
Lynn: Nothing restores your confidence faster than achieving a goal. You can tackle big, long-term, difficult objectives later. But for now, what are some small things you can do each day to make yourself feel better and help reduce your stress? When you're busy, the trick is two fold: 1) just begin and 2) start small. Take a first step to what you feel excited about and then take another one and another one. Remain centered in the present. That's your point of power. Trust your inner direction from your intuition. When you follow your passion, excitement and inner knowing you'll discover what makes you happy and fulfilled. When you know what you want, there's a clear path to achieve it. Your guidance will show you the way.
gfb: Personally, we feel crazed half the time, running around trying to get things done and some of us with small children who interrupt practically every thought we have. Not much time to sit down and concentrate on what our intuition is telling us. Is there hope for us?
Lynn: Next time you find yourself fraught with anxiety, check in with your intuition. Get in the habit of asking questions of your intuition and expecting a reply. You might ask, "What could I do to feel calmer this afternoon?" In response, you get an image of a quiet lunch in the park by your office coming to mind. That is one of the ways your intuition responds - through images. Your intuition is connected to a higher wisdom that always knows what you need. It will always lead you to peace, love, forgiveness, gratitude and faith. It's also important to stay focused on the positive stuff in your life. During times of crisis it often feels like everything is going wrong, but that's seldom true. Staying constantly focused on what makes you feel bad will only worsen an already difficult situation. Pay attention to what is working. Perhaps a friend called to cheer you up, or your child got off to school this morning without a major tantrum, or you had a really nice lunch with your husband. Find those precious slivers of appreciation in each day.
