The Career Guide for Creative and Unconventional People by Carol Eikleberry, Ph.D.
If only this book was around after I graduated from college, it could have saved me years of staring at insurance claims.  What was I thinking?  At that point it would have made so much more sense to be poor and doing what I loved than to be poor doing something I hated.  But then the years go by, you get promoted, you start to make a decent salary, and you are....stuck.

Whether you are fresh out of college, or having your mid life crisis, this book can be for you.  Carol Eikleberry shows you how you do what you love and still pay the rent!

My children are small right now, but I already know the most important lesson I want to teach them.  Do what you love and the money will follow.  At 38 years old, I'm just learning this lesson now.  It may seem late, but if I retire at the standard age, I still have 27 years of work ahead of me!  Whoa!

The author begins by helping you ensure you match your "personality type" (there are six of them) to your "work environment" (there are six of those).  Matching the two is crucial to your happiness. Then she moves on by helping you decide exactly what it is you want to do - to make your "creative choice".  Or, if you don't fit into a certain career, compose your own!

Then she helps you Make It Happen!  There is some solid, good advice in this section, complete with real life stories of people who transformed their careers - and their lives.

Finally, she includes descriptions of 240 occupations that people actually make (very) good money at.  Someone has to write those crossword puzzles, right? From the more common (Interior Designer) to the more obscure (Bank-Note Designer) they are sure to strike a creative chord.

David Copperfield, Wolfgang Puck, J. K. Rowling, and countless others have all made careers out of doing what they love - why can't you?

About the Author: Carol Eikleberry was a Stanford English Major who later became a counseling psychologist. She has helped hundreds of people choose and change careers since 1983.
