coverThe Girl's Guide to Traveling Solo by Deanna G. Wolff
Have you been putting off that dream vacation because you don’t have a traveling companion?  What are waiting for?  You don’t need anyone but you - and maybe a little inspiration from adventurous solo traveler, Deanna Wolff.  In this fun little book Deanna shares with us, in great detail, her recent trip to dreamy
Italy .

Deanna is a regular girlfriend type.  She’s 30 something and underpaid as a web and graphic designer but stays at the job because of its very generous vacation benefits.  The current love of her life is Spencer the cat, and she’s been engaged four times (hmm…that really isn’t so typical and would probably make an interesting book).  She also has lots of friends, but not many of whom are single and available to jet off to foreign destinations with her.  Thus, she goes off and has a great time exploring on her own.

Deanna’s Italy trip begins with a visit to a native friend in Rimini .  After staying there for a couple of days and feeling like a bit of an outsider despite the wonderful hospitality, she decides to change her itinerary and embark alone on a side trip to the charming island of Capri before moving on to her final destination of Rome.  The visit in Capri starts off a bit bumpy (and rainy) until Deanna meets an Italian Stallion.  A holiday romance ensues until Deanna finally tears herself away to continue on her journey to Rome where she is awed by the city and sites before having to make her way home again to Toronto .

The book is filled with descriptions of scrumptious food, charming cafes, wonderful sites to visit, and travel tips.  Deanna also enjoys much vino and limoncello along the way.  One tip I’m sure she will remember next time – bring an umbrella even if you don’t think you’ll need it!  Salute!
