The Two Sillies by Mary Ann Hoberman
In this charming story that rhymes throughout, Silly Lilly sees a cat and
wants one of her own. Her friend, Sammy, shows her how to get one in
a very roundabout way. It's lots of fun to read this silly
tale!

The Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot
She may have seen the movie, but your teen will also enjoy reading this
tale of Mia, who finds out in ninth grade that her Dad is actually the
prince of a small country, and she, his only heir, is actually a
princess. Now, some girls might like this idea, but Mia just wants to
be an average freshman. On top of that, her mom is dating her algebra
teacher. In typical entertaining teen style, Mia deals with her new
(pampered) life.

Granny Torrelli Makes Soup by Sharon Creech

lessons. When Rosie & Bailey's friendship is tested, Granny

& turns, you can still be best friends.

Hello Baby! by Lizzy Rockwell
This is a darling book to share with a young
child who has a sibling on the way. It is narrated by a little
boy who becomes a big brother. He explains how the baby grows in
his mother's body, how his family gets ready for the baby's arrival, and
what happens when the baby comes home. The illustrations are
delightful and very helpful in explaining what a child can expect when she
is expecting a little brother or sister.

Clarice Bean, That's Me by Lauren Child
Lauren Child has written and illustrated a truly enjoyable book for child
and caregiver alike. Clarice Bean tells it like it is in this tale
about her slightly dysfunctional family, comprised of her annoying younger
brother, disinterested older sister, recluse teenage brother, senile
grandfather, frustrated dad & stressed out mom. (Sound familiar?)
Clarice Bean is dry, sarcastic, and just a delight.

I Will Never Not Ever Eat a Tomato by Lauren Child
Another winner by Lauren Child, this book is the story of Lola, a very
fussy eater, and her older sister Charlie, who has been given the task of
feeding her dinner. After hearing the rather large list of foods Lola
will not eat, ever, especially those tomatoes, Charlie gets creative.
Transforming mere vegetables into objects from space and various other
ingenious moves, Charlie transforms her sister's eating habits.

No Matter What by Debi Gliori
This is a bedtime favorite in our house.
It’s the sweet story of unconditional love between Large, the
parent fox, and Small, the child fox.
“I’m grim and grumpy,” said little Small, “and I don’t
think you love me at all.” “Oh,
Small,” said Large, “grumpy or not, I’ll always love you no matter
what.” Then Small proceeds
to test Large with some silly scenarios like “if I turned into a squishy
bug, would you still love me and give me a hug”, with always the same
reassuring, rhythmic answer from Large.
Reading this together is a great way to remind your little one that
you’ll always love her, even if she’s had a bad day.
