The Half-Empty Heart: A Supportive Guide to Breaking Free from Chronic Discontent by Alan Downs
You may just
"know"
there is a
problem. You constantly feel frustrated, discouraged, and
stressed. Your life, no matter how wonderful it may look to
outsiders, is just not fulfilling. Neither is your job, or your
relationships. If this describes you, it can't hurt to take a peek at
this book, which discusses low grade depression, an affliction affecting
millions of people in this country - and they don't even know it.

Fighting for Your Marriage: Positive Steps for Preventing Divorce and Preserving a Lasting Love, New and Revised by Howard Markman, Scott Stanley & Susan Blumberg
After the gown is
packed away comes the reality that marriage is hard. How come no one told
us? This book contains real strategies for making your marriage
stronger. After years of trying to explain to my husband how I felt he
sometimes dismissed my feelings, I did a cartwheel after discovering a whole
chapter on what the authors call "invalidating" your partner's feelings
- one of the most toxic things you can do in a marriage. Well my husband
used to do it - a lot. This book opened his eyes - and saved my
sanity.

The Dance of Anger: A Woman's Guide to Changing the Patterns of Intimate Relationships by Harriet Lerner
Yes, we're angry. We
are expected to go out in the workforce, yet we are still primarily responsible
for everything at home. And the guilt...lets not even go there. This
is one of those books you need to re-read once a year. Very valuable at
dealing with anger, but you need to consciously work on it. If anger is
affecting your relationships, it is time well spent.
