The Girlfriends' Guide to Toddlers by Vicki Iovine
This book wasn't yet written when our
first little ones went through toddlerhood, but we went running to the
bookstore the second time around. We just didn't want to face this
difficult phase again without some help from the girlfriends! Vicki
Iovine does it again by providing witty and comforting advice on the
somewhat scary subject of toddlers and the major hurdles they (and we as
their mommies) face. A great book to make you laugh and put daunting
things, like temper tantrums and potty training, in perspective.

Odd Girl Out: The Hidden Culture of Aggression in Girls by Rachel Simmons
In this book Rachel Simmons challenges the notion of girls being sugar and
spice and everything nice. She explores the more aggressive
side of girls - the side we've all been victims of at one time or another
(i.e. gossip, snubbing) - and offers advice on what we, as parents, can do
to help break the chain. A great book to share with your daughter to
help her on the path to becoming a true and trusted girlfriend.

Raising Cain: Protecting the Emotional Life of Boys by Dan Kindlon
Many of us have a difficult time understanding men but that shouldn't
prevent us from trying to better understand our sons. This gem of a
book enlightens us about the emotional life of boys and what they truly
need to become happy, fulfilled people. Who knows, maybe with this
book's help you could help nurture the perfect man in the making.
Girlfriends of the next generation will thank you!

The Girlfriends' Guide to Getting Your Groove Back: Loving Your Family Without Losing Your Mind by Vicki Iovine
Vicki Iovine, the girlfriend who shared her wisdom on pregnancy, babies and
toddlers, now offers her advice on what to do once you emerge from the
mommy hole and finally find your children in school. Reconnecting
with your spouse, rediscovering fashion sense, and carving out some time
for yourself are just a few of the topics covered with her trademark wit
and candor.

What Mommies Do Best/What Daddies Do Best by Laura Joffe Numeroff
A charming book that really serves as two in one (flip it over for
"What Daddies Do Best"). The whimsical animal
parent/child scenes will give you the warm fuzzies. Refreshingly, the
scenes are not gender specific - each parent gets a turn to do the same
activity. A wonderful Mother's Day gift for mommies of young
children. Also available in a Grandma/Grandpa version.
