Waking Up the Karma Fairy: Life Lessons and Other Holy Adventures by Meg Barnhouse
We wish we could give this book to every girlfriend out there. Meg
Barnhouse introduces us to the Karma Fairy - a visit from which,
unfortunately, some people I know sorely need. Who is the Karma
Fairy? Here is a good example: One evening when my daughter
was a toddler, we were at a family member's home. My daughter had
gotten into their CD collection, and, horrifyingly, taken them out of
alphabetical order. My super-critical family member looked at me and
said, "when we have children, they will not get into our
CDs.". Uh huh. Fast forward a few years later, and
doesn't the Karma Fairy appear at their house one day while their daughter
has her way with the CDs, right in front of me. If the world is
going to rid itself of the evil of self-righteousness, we all need the
Karma Fairy. This book is full of essays from people who have been
visited by her, and what it taught them.

Simple Kabbalah by Kim Zetter
Madonna practices
it. So does Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher. What is this
mysterious way of life all about? Kabbalah is an ancient mystical
practice derived from the Old Testament, that unravels the mysteries of
the spiritual world, God, and creation itself. This book gives you easy-to-understand access to the complex principles and wisdom of Kabbalah
and will teach you how to practice Kabbalah in your everyday life.
If you are ready to "work the tree", as they say, this book is a
wonderful starting point.

Surviving Saturn's Return: Essential Lessons for Overcoming the Most Tumultuous Time of Your Life by Sherene Schostak, M.A. & Stefanie Iris Weiss, M.A.
If you have experienced the joy (ugh) of turning 30, you know it can be a
very difficult time. For those of you with 30 looming, do you wish
there was some higher learning that could make it a little easier?
The authors of this book have joined
forces to offer a psychological and
astrological guide to this major milestone. So, having been through
this process a few years ago, I thought I'd put the Libra (my sign) section
to the test....
I was kind of fascinated reading through the section. Besides feeling
it was very "on target" I was wishing I had it handy a few years
ago. One revelation was that I need to stop being "mrs nice
gal" and confront those people in my life who were treating me
badly. Perhaps if I had this advice earlier, it would have saved me
some painful lessons.
Overall, this guide is a handy companion for the big three-o. You can also
